Skeletons
LIVE at the LARK- track 7
music and lyrics: Tracey Roberts © 2013

You’re diggin’ up dirt from many years ago
Changing the way I see things now
I wish you’d never told me, I didn’t need to know
You’re spoiling it all somehow…

Look… this is what she told me, but you say something else
What am I supposed to do with that?
I don’t know what to think now…or who I should believe
Who remembers anyway, years after the fact!

So many misunderstandings, too much bending the truth
Listen – you can hear skeletons …  rattlin’ round in the roof

How can I not know, things that I now know
you’re messin’ with my head!
I’m struggling to find perspective inside
This complicated web

You made a judgement based on what you thought was right
Thought you did “the best thing” at the time…
With no way of knowing how much you have hurt someone
Way on down the line

So many misunderstandings, too much bending the truth
Listen – you can hear skeletons …  rattlin’ round in the roof

What happened to forgiveness? Putting it all behind
Ultimately, it’s all about love…
She said - you said - you said - she said, this, the other and that
Well what if it was actually none of the above?

My thing with you has nothing to do with
Your relationship or experience with them
Let’s build a garden and leave the bones alone
It all turns into compost in the end!

So many misunderstandings, too much bending the truth
Listen – you can hear skeletons …  rattlin’ round in the roof
So many misunderstandings, too much bending the truth
Listen – you can hear skeletons …  rattlin’ round in the roof
